I'm proud to present the update to my Vortex SoundWaves Kontakt 5 sample library:

Vortex SoundWaves v2 is a collection of Kontakt 5 & Sfz instruments made with genuine analog synthesizers, physical modeled instruments as well as treated acoustic sound sources. With the newly added user interface, Vortex SoundWaves is not only suited for ambient music production, but also for any synth base music like synthwave, vaporwave, synthpop, techno, electronica, etc. The scripted Kontakt 5 instruments feature:

* ADSR envelopes
* Reverb/EQ controls
* Unison/Portamento/Legato controls
* Arpeggiator
* More fine tuning controls

Here's the new GUI for the Kontakt 5 instruments:

The new audio demo shows what is possible with the new interface:

For more demos, there's a full album available for free @ Bandcamp.

If you don't have Kontakt 5, the plain 24 bit wav files are included with the Sfz mapping. The wav files have been named for easy mapping into any samplers.

There's also a free pack which includes 5 Kontakt 5 & Sfz instruments. I recommend that you download it before purchasing the full version to be sure you have a compatible version of Kontakt (that is, if you're looking specifically for the Kontakt 5 instruments). You can download it here (direct download):

For the full 24 instruments version of Vortex SoundWaves v2, you can download it for introductory price of £9.95 @ Sampleism.

In two weeks, the price will go up at £14.95.

I hope you'll enjoy the library! Cheers!

FM Synthesis for Kontakt 5 (Available for a limited time)

I was inspired by Michael Bietenholz's FM synthesis based Kontakt instruments for this library. FM Synthesis is a good example of what fascinates me with sound design. Here's more info about the story behind this library:
I've always been fascinated by obscure instruments, especially the mini-keyboards of the eighties. They were aim at kids but some of them had more advanced functionalities that would allow you to create your own sounds. The Yamaha MK-100 was one of them. This hard to find Portasound keyboard has a limited set of parameters you can tweak, but they were expanded for this library using a rare Korg flanger effect as well as a DOD analog phaser pedal.

The results are fascinating analog tones and unique FM synthesis textures. This is the kind of sounds I would normally produced exclusively for myself, but I've decided to share them with you for a limited time (only two weeks!). If you're into underground artists like Daedelus, Freescha, Casino vs Japan, Bibio, Flying Lotus, and if you dig genre such as Synthwave and Vaprowave, FM Synthesis has that lofi sonic edge you've been looking for!

Lo Fi modulation has never sounded so good!
Thales Model I: Retro Computer Sound Module

I'm very excited to present my first VST/AU plugin: Thales Model I! From the manual:

"Thales Model I is a virtual plugin for Windows VST (32bit & 64bit), Mac OS X VST and AU. Thales Model I features the sound generated by early sixties computer. The sounds have been sourced in public domain films, which means that they are not clean: tape noises and background hiss are part of the sound of this very special rompler. Because of this, Thales Model I's tone is reminiscent of the mellotron."

Audio demos:

Before buying the plugin, test the 4 tones demo version that you can download at to be sure Thales Model I is compatible with your setup:

Tone list:

You can buy Thales Model I Full Version at Sampleism for £6.99:

Because Thales Model I is based on very old computer sound, the tones are simple and often sound "organ" like. Most of the sounds are looped and the full product includes all the version of the plugin (Windows and Mac files, 32bit and 64bit VST plugins and AU) as well as a manual.

Note that Thales Model I has been developed with Maize Sampler and tested on Windows 8 and Mac OS X using FL Studio and Reaper.

If you find bugs, send an email with all the details (your OS, which version of the plugin you use) at samplesciencemtl (at) hotmail (dot) com Hitsquad Music Software Downloads

The collection breaks down in these categories:

Analog Age sound module teaser

Analog Age is a virtual sound module that features the tones of various vintage synthesizers. It's build with Maize Sampler and it was meant to be a submission to the 2014 KVR Challenge. Unfortunately, Maize Sampler's bugs prevented me of doing that and I now have to rebuild it in Kontakt 5. I'll probably have the time to work on it next year, during the summer. Until then, I hope you like the GUI. With Kontakt capabilities I'll be able to ad better controls and more features to shape the sounds. It will be a lot of fun! Stay tuned!
